Scientific research supports challenge solutions and creates a technology -enhanced agricultural environment

Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Dr. Amna Al -Dahhak Al Shamsi, announced the launch of the 2025 UAE Agricultural Exhibition and Exhibition in its first version in Al Ain, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, President of the Presidency Bureau, on May 28, and will continue until 31 of the same month.

Al -Dahhak said in a press conference organized by the media office of the UAE government, today, that we are witnessing many of the achievements that occur on the land of the UAE daily, and today we shed light on a new initiative, which is the launch of the first agricultural conference and exhibition, where it is held in Al Ain as an Emirati agricultural center that was established for him and our late father, God willing, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, is characterized by its successful agricultural ingredients.

Al -Dahhak emphasized that agriculture is a societal approach in the UAE, but rather it has been achieved in a desert environment with many challenges due to the nature of the climate, and this environment, despite its challenges, has witnessed great growth in the agricultural sector, which constitutes a pillar of food security in the state, noting that the state will continue to expand because we no longer have options but rather a reality that needs initiatives and actions on the ground.

She added: “The aim of the conference is to support the agricultural sector and citizens of citizens and local farms to expand its production in the country, leading to achieving the national food security strategy 2051 by making the UAE the first globally in the field of food security.

Al -Dahhak continued: “Through the conference and the exhibition, we will be able to provide all means of support to farmers to aim to provide empowerment ways to contribute to UAE food security. Hence, we are keen that the conference be comprehensive for various targeted groups as well as the private sector, emerging companies, farmers and all elements of society because we aim to achieve a qualitative shift in this sector.”

She stated that the conference will witness the participation of more than 100 citizen farms, more than 1,000 school students, more than 75 speakers, 20 startups, more than 20 government agencies and 40 private companies, while more than 35 sessions and dialogue will witness.

The Minister of Climate Change and Environment stressed that the conference mainly focuses on scientific research, so we were keen on the presence of universities in this event, during which 4 universities and their students participate, and school students participate in the framework of our constant focus on young people and future plans, so that we explain to them the importance of specialization in this sector in the future.

In response to a question to “Emirates Today” about the importance of scientific research in the agricultural sector, there is a number of challenges facing us in the agricultural sector such as climatic nature, so cooperation with universities supports the development of solutions to raise the efficiency of water use and use of soil and create an agricultural environment that enhances technology, knowing whether the environment is closed or open to agriculture, and linking it with data through artificial intelligence to provide automation to the agricultural system In full and developing technology for farm in some logistics such as water, pesticides or operational aspects.

And she continued: “We are talking here about all the challenges that scientific research can solve, and there are research centers working to develop solutions to these challenges, as we create in this context a space for dialogue between workers and researchers in the agricultural sector in one platform, as we allocated a full day for this dialogue through which it is possible to translate for joint initiatives inside and outside the country. The presence of the FAO organization is important because their presence with universities serves the agricultural sector in the state in a state The UAE.”

She stated that the conference and the exhibition will witness the launch of the National Agricultural Museum, which tells us the legacy of agriculture in the country, its history and its current technology, and the Emirates Youth Council for Agriculture will be launched on the sidelines of the conference.

On the support of farmers in the country, Amna Al -Dahhak said: “Since the start of the“ Move Emirates ”initiative, we have held 11 farmers council and listened to their challenges because our role listens to these challenges and translated them into initiatives and projects, as we aim to create economic thought for farms,” noting that working with the private sector supports promoting local agricultural products.
