The United Nations: The Conference of Solving the two countries is a decisive opportunity to draw an irreversible path towards peace

This came during a preparatory meeting of the conference held by the United Nations General Assembly today, Friday, in New York.

The President of the General Assembly Filmoun Yang stressed the utmost importance of this conference, praising the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and France as two participating presidents of the international conference to be held from June 17-20.

Yang added: “This conflict cannot be resolved through the permanent war, nor through the occupation or endless annexation. This conflict will end only when the Israelis and the Palestinians can live alongside their independent and sovereign states, in peace, security and dignity.”

The UN official reminded the passage of seven decades since the General Assembly called for the first time to a two -state solution. Since then, the association has reaffirmed its firm support for this vision through many decisions.

He concluded his speech by saying: “It is now upon us a collective responsibility to work firmly and implement these decisions already. It is our responsibility now to support international law and respect the principles United Nations Charter. We must restore confidence in the United Nations, the international community, and in our obligations towards the people of Palestine and Israel.

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

For its part, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stressed the urgent need for a decisive and irreversible work to end the conflict and achieve the two -state solution.

The head of the negotiating team of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chancellor Manal Bint Hassan Radwan, stressed the need for the conference to result in tangible results instead of just symbolic gestures. She said: “Regional peace begins to recognize the State of Palestine – not as a symbolic gesture, but as a strategic necessity.”

The Saudi official added that the next conference should be “The beginning of the end of the conflict – the matter is not related to words, but indeed, it is related to ensuring that our collective principles are translated into permanent facts.”

It also shed light on the Kingdom’s historical role in promoting peace, starting with the Arab Peace Initiative to the launch of the “International Alliance to implement a two -state solution”.

It urged all the participants to make practical and measurable obligations, based on the principles of urgency, substance, comprehensiveness and independence, and to be rooted in the rights and aspirations of both peoples to live in peace and security.

She concluded her speech by saying: “Let’s be clear: the war will never bring peace – only an irreversible action plan, temporarily defined, rooted in international law and aims to implement the two -state solution that can achieve this.”

France

Anne – Claire Leganes, adviser to the French President for Middle East and North Africa affirming the strong commitment of France, along with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to pay the two -state solution as the only path that is applicable to peace. She stressed the urgent need for an international mobilization before the June Conference, which aims to develop a concrete road map to implement the two -state solution.

Legander focused on three main messages:

Firstly, She called for an immediate work to end the war in Gaza, ensure unconditional release of all hostages, and to facilitate full human access.

secondly, She stressed the urgent necessity to put a political solution at the forefront, noting that settlement expansion, settlers’ violence, and efforts to weaken the Palestinian Authority undermine the two -state solution.

Third, The conference described as a possible turning point, stressing the need to translate obligations into work.

She called for taking irreversible steps regarding the two -state solution, stressing the need for the road map to include “disarmament of Hamas, reforming Palestinian governance, and ensuring Israel’s security.”

The goal and shape of the conference

According to the conceptual memo issued by the organizers, the conference aims to mobilize momentum by building on national, regional and international initiatives, and adopting concrete measures to enhance respect for international law and pay a just, lasting and comprehensive peace that guarantees security for all and regional integration.

The conference will be a platform for reaffirming international support for the two -state solution, and most importantly, planning and coordination to implement this solution. The supreme goal is to help end the occupation and embody the establishment of the independent and sovereign state of Palestine that lives side by side in peace and security with Israel in accordance with international law, relevant United Nations resolutions, Madrid reference and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The conference will consist of a public session and round tables. The plenary session includes opening data from the President of the General Assembly, the Secretary -General of the United Nations and the participating presidents (Saudi Arabia and France), data from representatives of countries and observers and a final part. 8 round tables will be held, including:
