"Nuclear control" Look at Baraka and International Cooperation developments

Abu Dhabi, May 27 / WAM / The Board of Directors of the Federal Nuclear Control Authority held its third meeting for this year, where the developments of the sixth meeting of the UAE -Korean high -level consultations on nuclear cooperation between the two countries and the outputs of the Chinese -Gulf Forum on the peaceful use of nuclear technology were presented.
The UAE’s role in the field of international cooperation in the nuclear sector has been highlighted, including strengthening bilateral relations with the Republic of Korea in the field of nuclear safety, research and development, and advanced nuclear technologies, as well as the UAE’s support for joint efforts between China and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to enhance nuclear safety, prohibit nuclear spread, and peaceful nuclear energy uses.
Christer Victoron, Director General of the Federal Nuclear Control Authority, also presented the latest developments on the authority’s supervisory activities and affirming its role in protecting public and workers in the sector and the environment.
The Board of Directors reviewed the existing control work at the Baraka Nuclear Energy Station, in addition to preparing for procedures for controlling the re -supplying nuclear fuel at the station and the maintenance work planned in each unit.
The authority performs periodic inspections of the station to ensure that the operator adheres to all regulatory requirements and compliance with the highest standards of security and safety.
The Authority’s Board of Directors also discussed the procedures for implementing the Cabinet’s decision on violations, administrative fines and penalties, including the mechanisms for implementing the decision to ensure compliance with its supervisory requirements.
The Council approved the authority’s plan to cooperate with national and international partners during the year 2025, which covers aspects related to nuclear and radiological security, in addition to research and development projects.
Cooperation is an essential element in the peaceful nuclear program of the UAE, as the authority seeks to expand its cooperation in various fields related to control over the nuclear and radiological sector.
The Board of Directors approved the annual report of the authority for the year 2024, which highlights the activities and achievements of the supervisory body during the year.
