The head of the Canadian delegation praises the UAE hosting the event .. and confirms: "Cosbas" Contributes to saving thousands of lives annually

Abu Dhabi, May 29 / WAM / Henrik Smith, head of the Canadian delegation, praised the UAE hosting the 39th annual meeting of the International Organization for Research and Rescue through the Global Telecom program for satellites, “Cospas-Saratat”, stressing that it is an ideal place to embrace this international event, because it provides an advanced technology and global highly efficient global communication.

Smith pointed out in statements to the Emirates News Agency “WAM”, that the meeting brings together more than 143 attendees, along with about 100 participants from different parts of the world, in a professional organizational atmosphere that reflects the level of hospitality and technical facilities provided by the UAE, expressing his appreciation and happiness to participate.

Speaking of the program, Smith stressed his country’s keenness to actively participate in the works of “Kospas-Sarat”, noting that the efforts made within this framework are not an easy matter, given the technical and logistical complications involved in the effective operation of the program.

He explained that the program requires intense coordination between more than 70 satellites, 130 ground stations, and 30 task control centers, in addition to cooperating with 45 participating entities, to ensure an effective and accurate response in emergency situations.

Smith added: “All this effort aims to a supreme humanitarian goal of saving lives, as the program contributes to saving approximately 3000 people annually around the world, and we are here today to push this work forward and achieve faster and more accurate results.”

He concluded by saying: “In the coming days, we will continue our work in separate sessions to follow up on the progress of the program, and we are grateful to the Emirates to host this global event, and on the generosity of hospitality and good organization.”
