The Energy Department launches the second phase of the response project for the request in cooperation with Energy Pool

Abu Dhabi, May 30 / WAM / The Energy Department in Abu Dhabi announced the launch of the second phase of the DR (DR) experimental project, in cooperation with the company (Energy Pool) as a response combination, and with the support of the Guidehouse Consulting Company, in the context of the department’s commitment to enhance energy efficiency and support the shift towards a flexible and sustainable energy system in the emirate.
The project aims to develop smart and integrated mechanisms to manage energy demand by enabling major industrial and commercial installations and other facilities to participate effectively in organizing electric loads during peak periods.
The project is one of the leading projects in the Gulf, Middle East and North Africa region, which depends on advanced digital solutions and modern energy management technologies with the aim of enhancing the system flexibility and meeting the increasing demand for electricity efficiently and sustainable.
The partnership agreement was signed by His Excellency Eng. Ahmed Al Falasi, Executive Director of the Energy Efficiency Sector in the Energy Department, and Mr. Olivier Bod, President of Energy Pool, in the presence of senior officials from both sides.
On this occasion, Al -Falasi stressed that the response program for demand is one of the basic elements in building a more flexible and efficient energy system, noting that the second stage of the project aims to expand the scope of participation and the application of more advanced tools and technologies and study other cases and uses, which enhances the capabilities of the energy system, reduces carbon emissions, and is in line with the goals of Abu Dhabi strategy for energy and water efficiency 2030, and contributing to achieving the goals of the Emirates Strategy for climate neutrality 2050.
He added that the Energy Department is aware of the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors in advancing innovation and applying the best global practices in energy management, calling on all industrial and commercial parties in the emirate to join this pioneering initiative and contribute to building the future of sustainable and balanced energy.
“We are proud to cooperate with the Energy Department in Abu Dhabi by operating the first response complex to demand in the region, relying on our international technologies, expertise and our operational capabilities, and our company is full of commitment to achieving Abu Dhabi’s vision to transform in the energy sector and its goals in sustainable development,” said Olivier Bod, President of Energy Pool.
The project aims to collect more than 250 megawatts of the flexible demand capacity through the participation of more than 30 leading industrial and commercial entities in the emirate, and by using advanced technologies provided by Energy Pool, the participants will be enabled to evaluate, unify and activate their capabilities to reduce loads as a strategic tool to improve the efficiency and dependence of the electrical network.
The project ranges include the installation and activation of advanced energy management systems, performance monitoring, and reports of measurement and verification, with the possibility of integration with smart meters systems and energy management systems in those facilities, and the period of the experimental phase is 12 months.
The implementation of this experimental project represents an important strategic station in Abu Dhabi’s efforts to lead the shift towards the future of sustainable energy, which combines innovation in policies, and enhances the achievement of the UAE’s targets in climate neutrality by 2050.
