Abu Dhabi Ports and a source of expecting a cooperation agreement to develop a facility to supply ship with sustainable methanol fuel and export

Abu Dhabi, June 4/ WAM/ Abu Dhabi Ports Group announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with each of the “Masdar” company, Advario and the “CMCGM” group to explore opportunities to develop a modern facility to supply ships with sustainable methanol fuel and export in Khalifa Port and Khalifa Economic areas Abu Dhabi – Kizad Group.
The project represents an important step within the infrastructure development plans to support the valuable supply chain, and to enhance the interconnection between the commercial production of sustainable methanol fuel and the main buyers such as the “CMCGM” group, as well as contributing to accelerating the efforts to remove carbon from the marine freight sector.
This agreement would contribute to strengthening the strategic partnership between the UAE and the Republic of France, whose pillars have been established through the UAE-French Business Council, which is held annually at the highest levels, and allows the private sector to contribute to achieving sustainable economic development and implementing joint projects.
Saif Al Mazrouei, CEO of the Ports Sector – Abu Dhabi Ports Group said: “The signing of this agreement represents an important step in our march towards re -visualization of the future of the maritime sector to be more sustainable and environmentally responsible,” explaining that the development of the ship supply facility with sustainable methanol fuel and its export in the Khalifa port would support the growth of the shipping sector, reduce carbon emissions and develop new sources of clean energy.
He expressed the aspiration through the distinguished partnership with these prestigious institutions to contribute to achieving a positive impact that resonates on the economic and environmental levels.
For her part, Dr. Faia Al -Harsh, Head of Business Development Department of the Green Hydrogen Administration at Masdar Company, said: “Green hydrogen and its derivatives, such as sustainable methanol, contribute to an important role in the efforts to remove carbon from the sectors that are difficult to reduce their emissions such as the shipping sector, which leads to accelerating the pace of transformation towards climate neutrality and considering that more than 80% of global trade is done through maritime transport, then strengthening Strategic partnerships are an important component of building an integrated series of green hydrogen production and a more sustainable maritime transport sector. “
Al -Harash pointed out that sustainable methanol has huge potentials that create a qualitative shift in the shipping sector by providing a feasible work methodology that effectively helps to reduce emissions and said that through cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Ports Group, Advario and CMACGM, we contribute to enhancing the UAE’s leading status in the field of sustainable innovation, and we advance steadily towards building a better and more future Taking into account the environment.
