Guterres: expelling the Palestinians or forcing them to live in their land without rights completely rejected

This was the message of Mr. Guterres to world leaders and the delegations participating in the high -level conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the two -state solution, which is scheduled to be held later this month, especially in light of “All the atrocities that we are witnessing in Gaza and the West Bank” As he said.

The Secretary -General asked the two -state solution: “What is the alternative? Is it the solution of one state in which the Palestinians are expelled, or are forced to live in their land without rights? This is completely rejected.”

This came in response to the questions of journalists in New York today, Thursday, after talking to them on the occasion of the commemoration of the United Nations employees who were killed while performing their duty last year. The international organization had lost 126 employees in the Gaza Strip in 2024, as UNRWA lost one in every 50 employees during the war, the highest victim in the history of the United Nations.

Commenting on the results of the Security Council vote yesterday, as the Council failed to adopt a decision on the ceasefire in Gaza, the Secretary -General said the United Nations “You are always disappointed when the ceasefire is not achieved, the hostages are not released, and humanitarian aid is not distributed, or it is distributed in a way that endangers the lives of many Palestinians at risk.”

He added that the world today is witnessing a “complete escape of punishment everywhere”, not only for the killing of humanitarian workers and journalists, but also the civilians who are killed “In tragic circumstances.”

He said: “The geopolitical divisions keep the Security Council to be paralyzed in such cases, which makes this impunity existing and continuous, and causes great frustration with everyone who believes in international law.”

Mr. Guterres emphasized that the United Nations will do everything in its power to help Gaza residents, but “it is clear that we cannot be effective in supporting the inhabitants of Gaza unless there is a permanent ceasefire, an immediate and unconditional release of all the hostages, and if there is unlimited access to humanitarian aid.”

He said that the previous ceasefire showed how huge humanitarian aid could have mobilized for the Palestinian people in Gaza, and he said: “We need to happen again and permanently.”
