Carry out the first robot homosexuality surgery in the Emirates to treat a rare tumor

The Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi Hospital has achieved a qualitative medical achievement by performing the first surgery in the country to remove cellular using robots, as well as chemotherapy with hyperactivity inside the peritoneum to treat a rare tumor in the appendix.

This achievement embodies a new station in the Abu Dhabi march as a global center for medical innovation and advanced care.

She underwent surgery, “48 years old”, during the procedure, a number of internal organs were removed to prevent the spread of the tumor in the abdominal cavity.

The medical team, Dr. Yasser, was completed by the oncology specialist at the Institute of Diseases of the Digestive System in the hospital in cooperation with a group of consultants, as part of a multidisciplinary team.

This mucous tumor in excess is a rare cases that affect less than 1% of oncology patients, and it was discovered by chance during surgery to remove appendix, as the analyzes showed a gel in the abdominal cavity that later confirmed the presence of low -grade mucous tumor, which necessitated accurate surgical intervention.

Because of the advanced nature of the tumor, doctors decided to perform a cellular removal using the robot, followed by a thermal chemotherapy inside the peritoneum at a temperature of 42 ° C for 90 minutes, in a step aimed at eliminating any remaining cancerous cells.

The use of robot contributed to reducing the size of surgical cracks, relieving pain, and accelerating the patient’s recovery that was exited from the hospital after only five days, compared to a period of up to two weeks in traditional surgeries.

The hospital’s chief executive, Dr. George Pascal Heber, stressed that the surgery represents a leading step in the field of robotic surgeries, adding that the hospital will continue to expand the scope of surgical innovation at the lowest limits of intervention to improve the quality of patients ’life and therapeutic outputs.

For his part, Dr. Yasser completed that the surgery formed a mixture of advanced techniques and the rapid therapeutic approach, noting that this is a reflection that is an example of the success of early intervention in saving life and limiting the spread of cancer.
