Atomic Energy Agency: There is no increase in the level of radiation outside the Iranian nuclear sites after the recent attacks

The Agency’s Director General, Rafael Mariano Grossi, called for an emergency meeting of the Agency Governors Council, and is scheduled to be held tomorrow, Monday “Due to the increasing risk of the situation regarding nuclear safety and security.”
The Iranian authorities had informed the International Atomic Energy Agency of not registering any increase in radiation levels outside the sites after the recent attacks on three Iranian nuclear facilities, including the uranium enrichment site. Mr. Grossi said: “We do not yet expect any health consequences for people or the environment outside the targeted sites.”
He added that the agency will continue to monitor and evaluate the situation in Iran, and will provide more updates when there is additional information.
According to the latest information from the International Atomic Energy Agency before the start of the attacks on Iran on June 13, the three sites targeted by the United States – which also include Isfahan and Natanz – contain nuclear materials in the form of uranium fertilized at different levels, which may cause radiation and chemical pollution within the facilities that were bombed.
Mr. Grossi repeated his saying that the nuclear facilities “It should never be attacked,” He called for stopping hostilities so that the agency can resume vital inspections in the country, including the necessary verification of Iran’s highly enriched uranium stock. The Director General also stressed the importance of continuing to exchange information in time with Iran on issues related to safety, nuclear security and guarantees.
