Qatar confirms that its strategic reserves of water are sufficient for 4 months and food for 18 months

The Qatari Minister of Interior, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, confirmed that the State of Qatar was keen to strengthen the strategic food security stock, revealing that the stock covers needs for 18 months.
The Qatar News Agency quoted Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani as saying that the current conditions have not required, until this moment, the use of this stock, but rather work is still continuing to support and enhance it continuously, and additional supply lines have been opened during these circumstances to ensure the stability of food supplies.
Regarding the strategic water reserve, the Qatari Minister of Interior confirmed that the situation is reassuring, and that his country has worked over the past years to build an integrated water security system based on enhancing the strategic storage capacity.
He pointed out that there is a strategic reserve of water sufficient for about four months of consumption, and that the competent authorities are still working to enhance this reserve and raise its storage capacity within the national water security plans, to ensure the continued availability and sustainability of water in various circumstances.
Regarding the readiness of the health sector, he noted the implementation of health sector plans in accordance with previously approved procedures to ensure the continued provision of health care to the community, noting that, in this regard, a sufficient strategic stock of essential medicines was maintained for a period of 9 months, in addition to a stock of medical supplies sufficient for a period of 12 months, ensuring the continuity of health services without any impact.
