Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority launches a new creative competition in"Liwa wet"
Abu Dhabi, June 23 / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority launched a new creative competition within the activities of the 21st Liwa Festival, which will be held from 14 to 27 July in Liwa in the Al Dhafra region.
The commission announced that the competition, which comes in the name of “Creativity from the Trunk of the Palm”, aims to encourage the recycling of the palm tree to produce artistic pieces that achieve a sustainable value that brings together the artistic and environmental sides within the framework of celebrating the palm tree, in a manner consistent with the nature of the festival that is held in conjunction with the wet dementia season in the UAE, and aims to highlight the status of the palm tree and its fruits in the Emirati society, as one of the components of identity Patriotism, in addition to contributing to the sustainability of the heritage and agricultural sector.
The nature of the competition for the citizens of the UAE and has monitored valuable prizes for the winners, in sculpting the palm trunks manually and using simple tools to inspire the Emirati heritage rich in its distinguished elements, and the surrounding environment from modern or ancient buildings or fortresses or castles in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi or in any region of the state, while avoiding carving living organisms and people, and allows each competitor to participate in one piece Only.
The authority explained that the delivery of the works will be at the festival’s location on July 13, 2025, a day before the launch, provided that the participant will be recorded in advance through the application of the festival, and the advanced work will be arbitrated to the competition according to a number of criteria that include the aesthetic form of the piece and the consistency of parts in terms of size, and show details through the depth of sculpture and its quality, the link of the subject of sculpture to the Emirati heritage and the representation of topics from the Emirati environment, the quality of the material used In terms of the hardness of the trunk and its free from insecticon and fungal injuries and the complete dryness of the piece, provided that the height does not exceed 75 cm and not less than 35 cm.
