A joint statement regarding the visit of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs to Ottawa

On June 24/ WAM/ His Excellency Anita Anand, Canadian Foreign Minister, Her Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, hosted during his visit to Canada during the period from 19 to 20 June 2025, where he confirmed the visit on the joint commitment between the two countries to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of trade, investment and innovation, relations between the two friendly peoples, international development, regional peace and security.
During the visit, His Highness met His Excellency Mark Carne, Prime Minister of Canada, and the two sides discussed the growing relations between the UAE and Canada. On behalf of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan sent an invitation to His Excellency Kareni to visit the UAE this year.
Canada and the UAE will continue to enhance their bilateral relations by exploring new opportunities for cooperation, with a special focus on economic relations.
The two countries also welcomed the opening of the “DP World” office in Toronto – its first office in North America – which will be a strategic platform aimed at strengthening trade relations between the two countries.
His Excellency Manner Sido, Canadian Minister of International Trade, attended the launching ceremony of the “Dubai World Chamber”, along with His Excellency Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, the Minister of Foreign Affairs to Canada. The opening of the new office comes within the “Dubai World Chamber” initiative, which embodies the close economic relations between the two countries.
It also reflects the joint aspirations that aim to consolidate the prospects for cooperation within the priority sectors, including artificial intelligence, energy and infrastructure, and also emphasizes Canada’s important position within the state’s strategy for trade and global investment.
The two countries also praised the pivotal role played by the Canadian -Emirati Business Council in collecting business leaders from both countries to enhance fruitful jobs and enhance national economic goals.
Based on the established foundations of institutional partnerships- which were embodied in the global cooperation between the Deposit and Management Fund in Quebec and Dubai World Ports through 15 ports and logistical region- the two countries expressed their desire to follow new areas of strategic investments and long-term economic partnership.
The UAE and Canada have reaffirmed their joint commitment to accelerate the ongoing negotiations on an agreement to encourage and protect foreign investment.

In this context, the UAE continues to invest in developing talents, infrastructure and organizational frameworks to reach technology.
The two sides also welcomed the dialogue between the institutions and the concerned authorities to enhance cooperation in artificial intelligence research, emerging technologies, marketing and responsible implementation.
They also stressed the importance of developing artificial intelligence in a comprehensive, safe, responsible and sustainable manner in order to support innovation and economic growth.
Water sector
The UAE and Canada realize the importance of water as an essential element in climate work, and the two sides affirm their joint commitment to addressing global water challenges.
They stressed the need to enhance international cooperation, and stressed that the United Nations Water Conference for the year 2026, which the UAE in partnership with Senegal is a fundamental opportunity to enhance global water efforts.
The two countries also stressed the importance of investing in water technology and innovation in this field to support the arrival of solutions on the issue of water scarcity, as well as clearly in the launch of the UAE “Mohammed bin Zayed Water Initiative” in early 2024.

The two sides have emphasized the increasing importance of diplomatic communication to ensure regional stability and international security in the long term.
The Joint Cooperation Committee
The two countries activate the role of the joint committee to advance bilateral cooperation, as a strategic platform to enhance an advanced partnership of an institutional nature on a broader scale. Through a high -level regular dialogue, the Joint Committee works to enhance cooperation in priority areas, such as trade, investment, defense, security, climate and energy. Canada will host the next cabinet meeting, which supports joint commitment to sustainable participation based on achieving the desired results.
International Development Cooperation
The UAE and Canada have also confirmed their common keenness to face urgent global humanitarian and development challenges.
Canada welcomed the role of the UAE as an international partner in sustainable development and humanitarian work. Based on their awareness of acute and unprecedented humanitarian crises at the global level, the UAE and Canada stresses their joint commitment to enhancing close cooperation in delivering aid and empowering societies. Relations between the two friendly peoples
