"Community development" and"Dubai Culture" Log in initiative "Increase" In support of the culture of reading

Dubai, June 24 / WAM / The Community Development Authority in Dubai, in cooperation with the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, “Dubai Culture”, announced the launch of the “Zad Rashid” initiative, aimed at distributing 1,000 integrated home libraries that include selections of books directed to family and children, in support of the culture of reading among young people in Dubai, enriching their cognitive and linguistic stock, and consolidating the national identity in them.

Each library contains 25 carefully selected books, 80% of which are written by Emirati writers, and 20% for Arab resident writers, in clear support for the writer and local publisher.
The initiative comes within the vision of the two institutions to enhance the cultural and educational values ​​of young people, and to upgrade societal awareness, in line with the goals of the “General Society” that raises the slogan “hand in hand”, while the initiative embodies the strategic directions of the Dubai government in building a coherent, educated, and sustainable society, and achieves Dubai’s aspirations and seeing its aim to establish its position as a global center for culture, and an incubator For creativity, a meeting place for talents.
The “Zad Rashid” initiative seeks to instill the love of reading, develop critical thinking, enhance the Arabic language, provide an attractive knowledge alternative to children at a time when the screens are crowded, and to consolidate their association with public libraries and sources of knowledge.
In this context, “Dubai Culture” granted 25 Emirati families a selection of books that include 25 diversified books, in appreciation of their commitment to borrowing books from Dubai public libraries.

A dialogue session entitled “The importance of reading in building a conscious society” will be organized, in which a number of Emirati writers, children and parents will participate, in an effort to enhance the cultural interaction between the authors and readers, and to build a new generation of writers and talented.
His Excellency Hessa Bint Issa Bouhamid, Director General of the Community Development Authority, stressed that “Zad Rashid” represents a long -term knowledge investment, which carries an important humanitarian and cultural message that aims to establish daily reading in homes, and to link children to their cultural and linguistic values ​​through qualitative and attractive content.
“The initiative reflects the integration of roles between the community and cultural parties in the emirate, and places the child and the family at the heart of cultural development. It also devotes Dubai’s commitment to providing an environment rich in knowledge, developing thought, implanting belonging, and returning to the book its place in the life of future generations,” she said.
For its part, His Excellency Hala Badri, Director General of the Culture and Arts Authority in Dubai, affirmed that the “Zad Rashid” initiative reflects the authority’s keenness to support the creative system in Dubai, and highlights its efforts aimed at creating an environment capable of promoting the culture of reading for children and adolescents for its contribution to enriching their cognitive stock, developing their capabilities on constructive critical thinking, and stimulating their spirit of innovation.

She said, “Reading has increased knowledge and the key to learning, one of the tools of community development, and building a person who constitutes the focus of the rational leadership, and its visions aimed at preparing educated generations characterized by its ability to achieve excellence, and keep pace with the requirements of the future,” noting that the initiative is compatible with the priorities of the “Dubai Culture” sectoral culture aimed at supporting and empowering creative talents, and highlighting the role of Emirati writers in upgrading awareness Community, and contributing through their various publications to introduce the history of the ancient state and authentic local culture.
The initiative is expected to motivate children to visit public libraries and reduce dependence on electronic media, through an alternative content that combines entertainment and value, and enhances dialogue and thinking skills.
