At the maternity hospital in Buraidah … a rare success for a child suffering from a liar fusion in the leg

The Maternity and Children Hospital in Buraidah, one of the components of the Qassim Health Gathering, recorded a qualitative medical achievement after the success of the children’s orthopedic surgery team in a rare and complex surgical intervention for a child who was suffering from a “pseudoarthrosis of the tibia” condition, which is one of the highly scarce and complex medical conditions in the bone of children. The intervention is the first of its kind at the level of the Qassim region, and comes after the child previously underwent more than eight surgeries in multiple hospitals without achieving successful results, which contributed to the complexity of his condition and the impact of his ability to move.

The assembly indicated that the process of the operation included removing the affected part of the bone and replacing it with a mixture of a natural bone taken from the child’s basin and another high -quality industrial, in addition to fixing it using accurate internal stabilizers to ensure stability and enhance the opportunities for full recovery.

The operation took more than seven hours continuously, and was carried out under the leadership of a pediatric orthopedic consultant, Dr. Abdullah Al -Murshid, and the participating medical team included Dr. Khaled Al -Lami and Dr. Musaed Al -Muhaimid, in addition to the anesthesia team led by Dr. Azzaz Mustafa and Dr. Noura Al -Harbi, and under the direct supervision of the Qassim Health Rally.

The medical team explained that the case is one of the most prominent surgical challenges in orthopedic medicine, because of its consequences for the growth of bone and the functions of the affected party, which requires a tight coordination and accurate planning to ensure the success of the process and achieve the best results.

After the operation, the child began to be a gradual recovery, with a noticeable improvement in the ability to move and restore vital functions of the lower party, which contributes to greatly improving the quality of his life.
