المملكة: Al Masaa…an integrated system to serve the guests of God in the Grand Mosque


The endeavor is represented in The Masa`At an estimated distance of 394 meters between the two mountains, in which the guests of God perform seven rounds starting from Safa and ending at Marwa, commemorating the story of Hagar, peace be upon her, in her quest in search of water for her son Ismail – peace be upon him-, in a scene in which the meanings of patience and trust are renewed, generation after generation.

The Masa` witnessed successive development expansions within the expansion projects of the Grand Mosque, so that today it has become a multi-storey building. It is equipped with advanced air conditioning systems, marble floors, and directional signs in several languages, in addition to paths designated for the elderly and people with disabilities, and electric carts that contribute to facilitating the performance of the ritual with ease and reassurance.

Accurate operational plans

The crowd management operations within the Masa’a are assigned to precise operational plans that depend on the distribution of human densities and the integration of field efforts among the concerned parties, ensuring the smooth flow of movement, especially in seasons with high density, such as the month of Ramadan. Ramadan and the Hajj season.

The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque confirmed that the work system in Al-Masa’a is based on flexible operational plans that are constantly updated according to performance indicators and reading of instantaneous densities, noting that field teams are working around the clock to ensure the safety of the pilgrims and facilitate their performance of the ritual with ease and reassurance, while harnessing modern technologies to enhance the efficiency of crowd management and raise the quality of services provided.

The endeavor remains a cultural witness to the urban and organizational development witnessed by the Grand Mosque, combining the authenticity of the ritual and the modernity of services, in an image that reflects the depth of the mission undertaken by the Kingdom in caring for the Two Holy Mosques and serving the guests of God.
