Mohammed bin Rashid sponsors the treatment of the Syrian girl, “Yaqin”, from a rare genetic disease

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God bless him, sponsored the cost of treating the Syrian girl, Yaqin Ibrahim Kanakir, who suffers from spinal muscle atrophy, a rare genetic disease that requires urgent treatment.

The child’s family had published a video clip on social media platforms in which she appealed to her help to save the lives of their daughter, especially since the treatment exceeds 7 million dirhams, and it is only available in a limited number of countries of the world, including Al -Jalila Hospital in Dubai.

The father of the child, Ibrahim Kanakir, confirmed that the office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum directly contacted him, and informed him that His Highness will take care of the full costs of “certainty” treatment.

He told «Emirates Today»: “I do not find words expressing appreciation and gratitude for this human gesture from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

On the case of the girl, Yaqin, the father said: “Since her birth in Syria, she was suffering from symptoms that we did not understand, and after many attempts we decided to come to the UAE specifically for diagnosis and requesting treatment, and here we found care, mercy, and a quick response from a leadership that does not know the impossible.”

The video, published by the family, met a wide interaction on social media, as many expressed their solidarity with the girl.

The disease of spinal muscle atrophy is a rare genetic disease that affects children at an early age, affects their motor abilities, and needs early treatment to save their lives and improve their recovery opportunities.
