Abu Dhabi, July 3 / WAM / The Environment Authority – Abu Dhabi won the Golden Award for Sustainable Buildings presented by the US Council for Green Buildings (USGBC), which is the system of rating the green buildings most used in the world, in appreciation of its distinguished efforts and leadership in the application of energy efficiency and environmental protection and its commitment to sustainability in managing the building of the Heritage Plant Resources Center in Al Ain.
The authority won this award due to its fulfillment of all the necessary accreditation criteria, including reducing energy consumption by 75.1%, and rationalizing water consumption by 53.49%, and also reduced the greenhouse gas emissions by 75.1%, in addition to its dependence on renewable energy through the use of solar photovoltaic panels on the site in the production of 581,077 kWh per year in a center building Genetic plant sources.
His Excellency Dr. Sheikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary -General of the Environment Authority – Abu Dhabi said: “Our victory in the Golden Award for the Golden Award for the Department of Genetic Plant Resources Center in Al Ain is a new achievement that is added to the march of the bus in the framework of its continuous endeavor to achieve Abu Dhabi’s vision in the leadership of global environmental work.

This certificate strengthens the role of the center of the genetic plant sources established by the authority in the Al Ain region, and aims to ensure the seeds and tissues of all types of wild plants and local agricultural types of importance in the UAE, as it reflects the team’s dedication to the center in integrating sustainability efforts with the energy efficiency and optimal management of resources, which confirms the commitment of the authority in all its facilities to work towards a more sustainable future.
