Dubai Police warns of fraud crimes under the guise of “discounts” offers

The Anti -Fraud Center at the General Administration of Investigations and Criminal Investigation in Dubai Police has warned of crimes implemented by those under the guise of “discounts” offers, on different products, whether on offers of foodstuffs, restaurants, or even resort reservations and others.
Dubai Police, as part of its continuous campaign, “Be aware of fraud”, called for the need to be cautious and cautious about these advertisements by taking a set of important measures to avoid a victim of the fraudsters who use this criminal method, and the first of these measures is to avoid seductive and illogical offers in offering the value of discounts on products, not to open their links or re -publish them to others.
Dubai Police explained that the credibility of the advertisement can be verified by reviewing the publisher’s account, and verifying whether it is documented or not, and whether it has a long and long history of publication, and whether it is published regularly or was created only to publish this fraudulent advertisement only.
It indicated that one of the ways to verify the reality of the site or account on social media platforms is to review previous reviews or experiences for users, and the comments of the followers about the product, so if there are phrases confirming that it is a fraudulent site, it must be avoided immediately and reported.
Dubai Police confirmed that one of the verification methods is also to monitor the style of the language and the formulation used in the site or the account.
Dubai Police also stressed the need not to press suspicious advertising links, and the need not to provide personal or banking information, and not to send the ID number or credit card or send a “OTP” verification code that comes with a text message from the bank after the purchase of these entities except after verifying 100% of that it is real.
Dubai Police noted the necessity of immediate reporting of any suspicious advertisement or a fraudulent attempt through the Dubai Police smart application or calling the number 901, stressing that the awareness and cooperation of individuals represent the first line of defense against this type of cross -border crime that exploits developments in the world of digital communication.
