The return of the great Egyptian artist, Yahya Al -Fakhrani, is a great event, given the high artistic value he represents on the one hand, and the audience’s longing for his artistic works after his absence from the scene for several years on the other hand.
As of Tuesday, July 8, Al -Fakhrani returned to the National Theater in Cairo; To present his theatrical performance, “King Lear”, taken from the text of the late English writer William Shakespeare. Al -Fakhrani has made this work for years, but this time it brings it back with young artistic faces, with a bright artistic future in the coming years.

The play, which will be shown during the summer in Cairo, will also be presented in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, during the two months: October and November, with the possibility of re -display in Cairo during the month of December.
In this edition of “King Lear”, director Shadi Sorour is presenting a new directing vision of Shakespeare’s text, relying on the translation of Dr. Fatima Moussa, who is one of the most prominent of those who presented Shakespeare’s works in Arabic.
The current version of King Lear is the largest productive in the history of the artistic house shows of the theater, whether in terms of designing decoration, clothes or accompanying artistic elements, to keep pace with the aspirations of the contemporary theater audience, and it is raised by the national theater as a platform to present classic works with a modern nature.
In addition to Al -Fakhrani, a group of stars of the artistic house of the theater, among them: Tariq Al -Desouki, Adel Khalaf, Tamer Al -Kashef, Reem Abdel Halim, Tariq Sharaf, Muhammad Al -Azzizi and Mohamed Hassan, within a representative combination that combines experience and vitality, which enhances the workforce technically and dramatically.

This is the third time, that Yahya Al -Fakhrani presented the personality of “King Lear”, after he embodied her for the first time in 2001, on the same theater, and then returned in 2019, as part of a special production, then achieved remarkable success.
The events of the “King Lear” play revolve around an old king, whose kingdom is decided to divide among his three daughters on the basis of their expression of his love for him. But his emotional rule leads him to a catastrophic decision, as he rewards hypocrisy, and he is punished, to discover lately the betrayal of giving them everything, and loses all the authority, status, and dignity.
King Lear is considered an immortal human drama for vanity, betrayal, absent justice, and the value of recognition of the truth, even if it comes late.
