Analytical thinking questions are the biggest challenge

“Emirates Today” visited the website of the International Chemistry Olympics tests 2025, which the UAE hosted from the fifth to July 14, with the participation of 360 students from 90 countries around the world, and the members of the Emirati team and its supervisors met during the theoretical and practical test period that spanned days, and was identical to international standards, in order to reveal the true capabilities of the participants.
The results are scheduled to be announced and the winners are determined tomorrow, Sunday, at a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Education in Dubai.
The Emirati team – consisting of four distinguished students – expressed its pride in representing the state in this global forum, stressing that participation in itself is a rich and unique experience, which added to the participants a high scientific and knowledge balance, and the horizons of analytical thinking have expanded them in the field of chemistry.
In detail, the 11th grade student (the elite path), Salama Al -Yamahi, said: “The questions came various and full of challenges, the most important of which is the points that measure the extent of analytical thinking and deep understanding, but I was enthusiastic about testing my abilities in topics that the traditional curricula did not address.”
She added: “I felt as if I was diving in chemistry in a deeper way than ever, and this experience motivated me to explore the future in the future, at a university and research level.”
As for the 12 -grade student (advanced path), Maryam Obaid Saif, she confirmed that the participation was more like a passage on an international journey of science and knowledge, as she was not limited to the academic side only, but also strengthened the skills of teamwork and communication.
She said: “Competition with students from 90 countries is a realistic image of the size of competition and scientific rapprochement between the world’s youth.”
The 12 -grade student (the elite path), Amna Al -Shehhi, indicated that the examination was accurate and strict, and the questions were designed to test analytical thinking more than memorization, and this was the biggest challenge, adding: “We presented everything we can, and we multiplied well, and the results in the knowledge of the unseen … and proud of effort and the honorable representation of our country.”
In an exclusive interview with «Emirates Today», the team’s scientific supervisor, Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Abu Halawa, said: “The choice of chemistry for this Olympics has a different nature, as it combines theoretical understanding and practical application.
He praised the extent of the students ’commitment and their academic and psychological readiness, saying:“ The Emirati team represented the state with merit and left a good impression with the International Organizational Committee. ”
For his part, the second supervisor, Dr. Abbas Hassan Afzar Hussein, pointed out that the competition was at a high level of specialization and accuracy, but the Emirati team fought the experience with confidence, and in integration between individual skills and teamwork, adding: “We are waiting for the results, and we are confident that the mere reaching this level of competition is an honorable achievement in itself.”
