She assured to «Emirates Today» that “moral and professional controls are the essence of criminal work”, pointing out that the laboratory enhances the reliability of its results through an integrated technical system, in the forefront of which is the “touch” system for laboratory information management, which allows the tracking of the samples electronically from its receipt until the final report is issued, which reduces the margin of human error, and facilitates documentation and review procedures, according to. International standards for quality and accreditation.
She pointed out that the laboratory contributes effectively to supporting criminal investigations, by providing reliable evidence that depends on advanced technologies, such as the “invasive chromatic system and mass of mass”, which is characterized by high allergies in discovering low concentrations of materials, and analyzing their composition accurately, in addition to the immunosuppressive devices for initial examination.
She indicated that her work in the branch contributes to revealing the circumstances of abuse cases and the causes of death, by analyzing blood, urine, glass fluid, monitoring new cases of prohibited use of materials, and determining the concentration of alcoholic materials accurately.
Among the most prominent issues that deal with it is suspicion of drug or alcoholic materials, forensic issues to determine the cause of death, suspicion of poisoning with toxic or volatile substances, or inhalation of carbon monoxide.
She emphasized that workers in the branch of toxins and drugs are committed to a number of moral and professional controls that are the essence of careful criminal work, foremost of which is completely confidential, by maintaining the confidentiality of information and results, and its failure to disclose any unknown party, given its direct association with the privacy of individuals and the course of justice.
She added that neutrality and objectivity is one of the basic constants in dealing with samples, as reports are prepared based on purely scientific results, away from any personal influences or external pressures, stressing that accuracy and scientific honesty represent the basis that cannot be tolerated, which requires a strict commitment to documenting each step in the analysis procedures with transparency, and holding full responsibility in the event of any technical error.
It touched on increasing challenges in light of the development of crime methods and modern technologies, most notably the emergence of new narcotic vehicles constantly, which requires double efforts to analyze and determine their chemical composition, in the absence of databases or reference materials approved for them.
She added that criminals use complex means to hide narcotic substances or adjust their properties, which imposes on the laboratory to develop analysis tools and raise the efficiency of examination methods continuously, in addition to the continuous need to update the approved devices and software, in a way that keeps pace with the speed and accuracy of the analysis.
The branch of toxins and drugs in the criminal laboratory of the Ras Al Khaimah Police has international cooperation with specialized bodies in the field of toxins and criminal evidence. The organization of the first international forensic conference and criminal evidence in the emirate has resulted in the emirate, which is the largest of its kind at the Gulf level, and he attracted a group of experts and technical doctors from different countries of the world.
