"Energy and infrastructure" The development of Emirates Street at a cost of 750 million dirhams

Abu Dhabi, July 14 / WAM / The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure announced the launch of a project to develop and raise the efficiency of Emirates Street, as it is one of the vital projects that embodies the commitment of the United Arab Emirates to construct a smart, flexible, and sustainable infrastructure, contributing to supporting the targets Achievement and the integration of roles between the concerned authorities, in a manner that ensures the achievement of concrete results that reflect positively on the movement of mobility and the flow of goods and services at the state level.
The project, which comes within a comprehensive national plan to address traffic congestion, includes expanding the road from three to five lanes in each direction, with a length of 25 km, starting from the intersection of Budaiya to the Um al -Quwain Emirate, which contributes to raising the absorptive capacity of the road to about 9 thousand vehicles per hour, an increase of 65%.
The project works also include a comprehensive development of the intersection No. 7 on Emirates Street, to create 6 directional bridges with a total length of 12.6 km, and a capacity of 13 thousand and 200 vehicles per hour, in addition to establishing assembly methods with a length of 3.4 km on both sides of the road.
The project, which is estimated at about 750 million dirhams, and begins to implement in the month of September for a period of two years, aims to organize traffic and achieve the highest safety standards for road users, which will contribute to reducing the trip time for those coming from the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, through the mother of Umm Al Quwain and Sharjah to the Emirate of Dubai, and vice versa, by up to 45%, and is considered one of the solutions to the problem Traffic congestion in the country, because of the direct impact it causes in reducing traffic density, reducing the time of flights, and improving the flow of movement on one of the most used federal methods.
The project is implemented according to the finest international specifications in designing and implementing infrastructure projects, ensuring the highest levels of traffic flow, quality and safety.
His Excellency Suhail bin Muhammad Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, said that the project comes within the Ministry’s efforts to find practical and sustainable solutions to the problem of traffic congestion, which received wide attention during the annual meetings of the UAE government, in which the importance of developing road infrastructure was highlighted to enhance the smooth flow of traffic and support comprehensive development.
He added that the project represents a qualitative step in achieving the state’s vision, aimed at providing an integrated road network that meets the needs of population and economic growth, and that improving road efficiency and developing vital intersections will contribute to reducing daily flight times, enhancing happiness and consent of society members, as it represents a strategic step in supporting sustainable development and achieving traffic flow that enhances the quality of life for the state’s population, and reflects the state’s commitment to provide innovative solutions to improve the movement of transportation Traffic, reducing emissions caused by traffic congestion.
His Excellency the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure stressed that this project is part of a comprehensive vision aimed at strengthening the network of roads and infrastructure in the country in accordance with the highest engineering and technical standards, which puts the UAE in the ranks of the world leading countries in providing sustainable infrastructure that meets the needs of the future, and supports the achievement of sustainable development goals, by providing integrated logistical services that keep pace with the aspirations of the state.
For his part, His Excellency Eng. Hassan Mohamed Jumaa Al Mansouri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for Infrastructure and Transport Affairs, stressed that the project of developing Emirates Street is one of the main projects within the national plan to address the problem of traffic congestion, indicating that the project will be implemented according to the highest international standards in road planning and infrastructure, and ensuring its sustainability.
He explained that the project will contribute to promoting traffic flow, especially for the transit movement between the cities of the UAE, as it is one of the main federal roads run by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.
