Austria :"The European Union must show "Power and self -confidence" In the face of American drawings

The Austrian minister called, during today’s meeting in the capital, Brussels, the European Union “to act steadily and trust” and said, “The European Union must show strength and self -confidence”, and called for ahead of the declared counter measures. “Things cannot continue this way in light of the daily American statements,” he added.

Minister Hatmansdorver affirmed his support for the European Union Commission in establishing global partnerships with countries threatened with customs sanctions from the United States, with the aim of “increasing global pressure”, and stressed that diversifying trade relations and free trade agreements are two important things for Austria, and said, “If we implement the free trade agreements that we are currently discussing, we can compensate 75% of American measures.” Stressing that it is time to have a more clear dialogue with the United States.

However, the minister explained that the goal of the meeting of the ministers of economy and trade in the European Union countries, “to reach a solution at the negotiating table”, for the American customs duties announced on the exports of the European Union.

The Austrian Minister of Economy stressed that the Atlantic relations are important to the entire global economy, and pointed out the necessity of applying counter -measures in conjunction with the European focus mainly on negotiations.
