10.2 billion dirhams UAE trade from telecommunications services during 2024 per growth of 4.3%

• The first in the world in 17 competitive indicators linked to the field of telecommunications services
Dubai, July 21/ WAM/ The UAE trade in telecommunications services recorded continuous growth during the year 2024, achieving 4.3% to reach 10.2 billion dirhams, compared to 9.8 billion dirhams in 2023, according to the data of the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics.

This positive performance is due to the strong growth registered in the fourth quarter of 2024, which reached 12.95%.
International competitiveness reports have translated the leading position of the UAE in the trade services trade, which is one of the basic engines for the growth of the digital economy, and constitutes a vital component in enabling e -commerce and enhancing technological integration between countries, by issuing the first ranks globally in 17 competitive indicators related to the transformation towards the digital economy, innovation and digital infrastructure, during the 2024 and 2025 years.
The latest data for the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics showed that exports of telecommunications services increased by 6.49% in 2024, to reach 4.9 billion dirhams, compared to 4.6 billion dirhams in the year 2023, and the total state imports of telecommunications services increased by 2.38% in 2024, to reach 5.3 billion dirhams, compared to 5.2 billion dirhams in 2023.
At the level of the quarterly performance, the fourth quarter of 2024 witnessed a remarkable contribution to the total trade services trade, reaching 26.45%, to be the highest contribution among all quarters, and the fourth quarter achieved a strong growth of 12.95%, to reach 2.70 billion dirhams, compared to 2.39 billion dirhams for the same quarter of the year 2023, which is the largest growth between the rest of the quarters during the year.
The percentage of the third quarter contribution to the total services trade during the year was about 25.34%, at a value of 2.59 billion dirhams, compared to 2.46 billion dirhams in the same quarter of the year 2023, while the second quarter contribution rate was about 25.05%, at a value of 2.56 billion dirhams, compared to 2.49 billion dirhams, in the same quarter of the year 2023, while the contribution of the first quarter of the year reached towards 23.17%, at a value of 2.37 billion dirhams, compared to 2.46 billion dirhams in the same quarter of the year 2023.
The prosperity of the telecommunications services trade strengthened the UAE’s position in global competitiveness indicators related to the digital economy and digital infrastructure, as the state ranked first in the world in 17 competitive indicators, and within the first five places globally in 21 indicators.
According to the results of global competitive indicators and reports, the UAE ranked first in the digital transformation index and the number of Internet users per thousand people, and the digital skills and technology index within the report of the annual competition for competitiveness 2025 issued by the International Institute for Administrative Development in Switzerland, during which the state also ranked third in the world in the evaluation of the legislative environment support for the development and application of technology, and the tool use index Digital and technology, as well as the fifth rank globally in the technological development financing index.
The state also ranked first globally in the number of Internet users in relation to the population, and the mobile subscriptions index (subscriptions/100 of the population), within the report of the Social Progress Index 2025, and the state also ranked first globally in the index of broadband subscriptions for mobile devices (per 100 people), and the population index used for the Internet (per 100 people), within the indicator of sustainable development goals 2025.
In the annual digital competitiveness report issued by the International Institute for Administrative Development for the year 2024, the UAE ranked first globally in the Internet user index and the wireless broadcast index, while ranked second globally in the index of table possession, while in the report of e -government for 2024, issued by the United Nations, the UAE ranked first globally in the index of active subscriptions for the domain Portable broadcast, the percentage of the percentage of the price of the web basket with a fixed bold, the percentage of individuals who use the Internet, and the index of mobile cell phone subscriptions, and the state ranked first globally in the index of individuals who use the Internet in relation to the total population, within the future report of growth, issued by the World Economic Forum.
In the 2024 Tourism and Tourism Report, issued by the World Economic Forum, the state ranked first in the world in the 3G network coverage index (% of the population), the internet subscription index with a broad broadband internet per 100 people, and the percentage of individuals who use the Internet (% of the population).
Communications services
Communications services, radio, audio, image, data, and other information through the phone, textures, telegrams, radio networks, television, satellite television, e -mail and fax, also include business network services, a remote meetings via the computer network, support services, and do not include the value of information transferred. In this category, communication services via mobile phone, network maintenance services and access to the network, including connection services to the Internet, are also included in this category. It is excluded from this category the services of installation of phone equipment.
