المملكة: Drown deaths decreased 17%.. The first Kingdom in the world in water safety standards

She emphasized that the decrease in drowning mortality by (17%) reflects the effectiveness of national programs in promoting public safety and achieving the economic and societal impact.
This came during a workshop organized by the Ministry in conjunction with the International Day for the Prevention of drowning, which corresponds to the twenty -fifth of July of each year, which is the initiative launched by the Public Health Authority “Prevention”, with the participation of a number of government agencies.
While the ministry activated it through its awareness programs and internal activities, as well as highlighting it through its digital platforms; In order to consolidate societal awareness of the importance of safe behaviors in water environments, and to activate the approved preventive policies to protect lives.
Water safety standards
The workshop clarified that the Kingdom is issued in water safety standards; Through its implementation (12) an integrated national initiative to prevent drowning, indicating that the initiatives enabled the Kingdom to avoid an economic burden estimated at more than (800) million riyals, which reflects the impact of preventive policies and investing in national initiatives.
She added that the national policy of prevention of drowning; It aims to develop the water safety system, through a unified national framework that focuses on protecting lives in various water bodies within the Kingdom, through policies based on local regulations and legislations that are compatible with international treaties.
She pointed out that the Kingdom adopts the best global practices, in proportion to its environmental and geographical characteristics.
The workshop confirmed that the concrete results achieved in reducing the drowning rates and avoiding economic burdens; Thanks to the integration of national efforts, and the enhancement of ways of cooperation between the concerned authorities, in addition to the Kingdom’s keenness to build an effective and sustainable system in the field of water safety, in line with the targets of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision, in protecting lives and enhancing the quality of life.
