المملكة: Launching a “reader platform” for people with visual disabilities … services and advantages

It allows persons with visual disabilities, including the blind, safely and easy to the content of books on local and international platforms.

This initiative comes within the Kingdom’s efforts to enhance cultural and knowledge integration, and to achieve justice in reaching sources of knowledge for all groups of society.
The CEO of the Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority, Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al -Wasel, confirmed that the “reader” reflects one of the most prominent pillars of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision, which is building a knowledge society that does not exclude anyone, but rather enables everyone to contribute, learn and develop.
He explained that through this step, the authority confirms its continuous commitment to providing solutions that facilitate access to the book, and promote the position of culture in the life of the individual.
This step comes within the “Book for All” initiative launched by the authority to enhance the value of reading and develop its practice in society, by providing new options for distributing books and expanding the outlets of their access to various segments of society.
“A reader” platform
The “reader” platform contributes to enhancing access to access to cultural and cognitive content through a comprehensive design that takes into account the needs of the beneficiaries of the screen reader tools and the means of enlargement of texts, as well as providing high -quality content in multiple languages, as well as integrated technical support, and providing free subscriptions in local and international digital libraries.
The platform was developed in cooperation between the Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority, and the Care of Persons with Disabilities, to ensure the integration of the technical structure and the exchange of beneficiaries’ data through linking with the “Nafal” platform, ensuring the ease of entry to the beneficiaries registered with the Persons with Disabilities.
The inauguration of the “reader” platform comes as an extension of the efforts of the Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority aimed at enabling people with visual and blind disabilities to exercise their right to read and cognitive enrichment, which contributes to achieving the targets of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision towards building an integrated knowledge society.
