The UAE national team leads its group in the Dubai International Basketball Championship

Dubai, January 26 / WAM / The UAE basketball team continued its strong start in the 35th edition of the Dubai International Basketball Championship, achieving its second victory in a row, after defeating the Libyan team Al-Ittihad, 97-95, in the match that was held at the Rashid bin Hamdan Hall in Al-Nasr Club, as part of the second round of the first group competitions.
The UAE national team succeeded in overturning a 10-point deficit to lead 95-93 before the final moments, before Al-Ittihad of Libya equalized 95-95 seconds before the end of the match, but DeShaundre Washington decided the confrontation in favor of the UAE national team with a decisive shot two seconds before the end of the match.
Within the same group competitions, the Syrian team Homs Al-Fidaa achieved its first victory over its compatriot Al-Wahda with a score of 77-65.
With these results, the UAE national team topped the standings of the first group with 4 points, while the Libyan team Al-Ittihad, Homs Al-Fidaa and Al-Wehda finished with 3 points each, compared to two points for the Al-Nasr team.
In another match in the second group, the Syrian Al Karama team defeated Zamboanga of the Philippines with a score of 92-90.
Today, the group stage competitions continue with four matches, as the UAE national team meets Al-Nasr, and Al-Wehda of Syria meets Al-Ittihad of Libya in the first group, while the matches of the second group bring together Al-Ahly Tripoli of Libya with Al-Karama of Syria, and Beirut of Lebanon with Africain of Tunisia.
