Weighs 5 thousand tons .. North Korea intends to build a third warship destroyer
The official agency indicated that the workers in the shipyard in Namo (southwest of Pyongyang) pledged during a gathering on Monday, to complete the construction of the ship by October 10, 2026, the anniversary of the founding of the ruling Labor Party, the only one in the country.
It reported that the ruling regime will build “the third destroyer of the Choi Hyun category”, which was described as a “strong warship.”
The director of the basin urged the workers to fulfill the deadline to support the “plan to build strong armed forces” and “defense firmly on the impregnable naval sovereignty and national interests.”
The first attempt to launch the destroyer failed
North Korea, in the presence of leader Kim Jong -un, in mid -June, launched a destroyed incident during its inauguration in May.
The ceremony was held for the ship, called “Kang Kon”, in a North Korean general killed during the Korean War (1950-1953), in the shipyard “Rajin” basin in Rasun, northeast of the country, according to the Korean News Agency.
The authorities attributed the failure of the first attempt to launch the destroyer, which weighs 5,000 tons on May 21, in the port of Chongin, to a “serious accident” that led to the crash of parts of the ship’s bottom.
The North Korean leader described the incident as “a criminal act caused by absolute neglect.”
Official media reported that the authorities had arrested 4 people against the background of the accident.
