المملكة: In the footsteps of the European “Schengen” … a unified visa for the Gulf states soon

The European News Network “Euro News” revealed the launch of a new tourist visa that will facilitate travel between the Gulf states, such as the “Schengen visa” that allows its bearer to travel and reside in the Shenvin region, a group of 27 European countries.

The network stated that the approval of the major flight visa of the Gulf Cooperation Council states – also known as the Unified Tourist Visa, or the visa of the unified Gulf Cooperation Council states – took place in 2023. This means the ability to visit Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates with only one statement. The goal is to simplify travel in the region and facilitate exploration of multiple countries on one trip. Here is everything we know about the date of launching a unified tourism visa, and how to apply.

What is the unified tourist visa for the Gulf states?

The unified tourist visa will be one permit that allows entry to all the six member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Currently, travelers must apply for separate visas for each country. Under the new system, citizens of non -member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council will be able to choose to apply for a visa from one country or several countries. The unified visa will be reached via one gate, which also means alleviating the administrative burden on visitors.

To qualify, the purpose of visiting you should be tourism, short stay, or visiting family and friends. This visa does not allow work or long -term residence. The Gulf Cooperation Council has not yet confirmed the vicinity of the visa, but it is expected to range from 30 to 90 days.

The fees have not been announced yet, but the authorities say that the new option of multiple countries will be an effective alternative to the cost of the current six separate visas for those who want to visit all member states. The unified tourism visa is expected to be launched by late 2025 or early 2026.

How can you apply for a unified tourist visa for the Gulf states?

The system has not yet been launched, but as soon as it is launched, it will be completely online through a dedicated gate. Travelers will have to provide personal information and the details of their journey, including the purpose of their visit, travel dates and the intended journey path such as the details of transportation between countries. They will then be asked to choose a visa for one country or for multiple Gulf countries.

Applicants will need to download different documents, which are likely to include a copy of a valid passport, a personal image of the size of the passport image, proof of residence, travel insurance, and proving enough money to cover the trip, and a confirmed travel ticket to return or go to a destination not affiliated with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. Once approved, the visa will be released by email – but the travelers are also expected to carry a printed version with them throughout their journey.
