1034 beneficiaries of support "Emirates Cancer Society" Therapeutic and humanistic

Al Ain, March 14 / WAM / The Emirates Cancer Society continues its tireless efforts to confront cancer nationwide, by providing comprehensive support to patients and their families, promoting health awareness and educating the community on the importance of early detection of the disease.
The association revealed in its annual report that it provided financial and in-kind assistance during the year 2025 amounting to 5 million and 329 thousand dirhams, from which 1,034 cancer patients and their families from 25 nationalities residing in the country benefited, reflecting the breadth and diversity of the base of beneficiaries in UAE society.
His Excellency Dr. Salem Mohammed bin Rakad Al Ameri, Chairman of the Society’s Board of Directors, explained that the therapeutic aspect accounted for the largest share of the total aid; 4 million and 111 thousand and 225 dirhams were allocated to cover the costs of treatment and surgeries, while 245 thousand and 498 dirhams were allocated to cover health insurance fees.
This support comes in light of the high financial burdens that cancer treatment costs represent, especially for cases that require precise surgical interventions or extended chemotherapy and radiation therapy sessions.
Al Ameri pointed out that the association’s services included the various emirates of the country, through its offices, which contributed to facilitating patients’ access to support without geographical obstacles, and also enhanced the speed of response to eligible cases according to approved regulatory mechanisms that ensure that aid is directed to the most needy groups.
He said that the Emirates Cancer Society paid significant attention to the psychological and moral aspects, through a specialized team that makes field visits to hospitals and homes, pointing out that psychological support is one of the important elements that complement medical treatment. Medical literature indicates that psychological stability and improving morale contribute to enhancing the patient’s response to the treatment plan and raising the quality of life during the treatment period.
He added that the support provided by the association extends to the families of patients, given the psychological and social burdens they bear accompanying the course of the disease, stressing that this support reinforces the concept of comprehensive care that combines medical and humanitarian aspects.
For his part, Adam Mohammed Al Balushi, Executive Director of the Emirates Cancer Society, said that the Society’s activity comes within a broader system of health and community initiatives in the country, which focus on supporting patients, encouraging early screening, and promoting a culture of social responsibility.
He added that the diversity of nationalities benefiting from the association’s services embodies the inherent values of tolerance and solidarity that characterize Emirati society, and also emphasizes the comprehensiveness of the support provided without any discrimination.
Al Balushi stressed that the association will continue its work to expand the scope of therapeutic and psychological services and strengthen community partnerships, which contributes to sustaining support and achieving a sustainable humanitarian impact in the lives of patients and their families.
It is noteworthy that last year 2025, the Emirates Cancer Society received the classification of the best public benefit association in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi from the Department of Community Development, in addition to winning the Social Impact Award from Etisalat, and receiving the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work.
These results reflect the level of institutional commitment and governance in the management of charitable work, in addition to the effectiveness of the programs provided and their societal impact.
