At least seven children were killed and 26 others were injured, Friday after the collapse of part of the roof and walls of a government school, in western India, the police announced.
“Until now, seven children have been killed and 26 others were injured,” said the policeman in the state of Rajstistan Nand Kishor.

He added that the construction collapsed during the presence of students in the classroom early Friday.
In the school, about 60 students, teachers and employees were found in the one -storey building when the accident occurred in the Galawar area, which is about 322 km (200 miles) from the state capital, Jaipur.
The local residents rushed to the site to save many injured children who were transferred to the nearest medical facilities.
Local media reports stated that the building was in a deteriorating state and that several complaints had previously received. The region has also witnessed heavy rains during the past days.

The ages of children who died between 8 and 11, while the condition of two of the injured were critical, according to local media.
The Minister of Education in the state of Rajastan, Madan Delawar, announced the opening of an investigation into the accident, noting that the local authorities make “all the necessary arrangements to treat” the injured students, following “I will conduct an in -depth investigation to determine the causes of the accident.”
Government schools in India suffer from a chronic deficiency in financing, and students complain of the absence of teachers and the deterioration of buildings, as well as the absence of basic services such as clean drinking water or toilets.
