Iraq is suspended after the temperature reaches 52 ° C

The Iraqi authorities announced the disruption of the official working hours in a number of governorates, today, Sunday, after temperatures reached unprecedented levels, which exceeded in some areas 52 degrees Celsius, especially in the capital, Baghdad.

A spokesman for the Air Commission, Amer Al -Jabri, said that the heat wave will continue until Tuesday, expecting that temperatures will start gradually decrease.

According to the weather data, ten Iraqi governorates, most of them in the center and south of the country, recorded temperatures between 50 and 52 degrees Celsius, while the northern governorates recorded between 44 and 49 degrees Celsius.

The official authorities warned that the height of the hot bloc is recorded today, Sunday, which raises the risk of direct exposure to sunlight and increases the severity of ultraviolet radiation, calling on citizens to avoid going out at noon.

The thermal wave was accompanied by a sharp decline in the production of electrical energy, as a result of the stopping of Iranian gas supplies, which negatively affected the ability of power plants to meet the increasing demand, especially with the continued power outages in most regions.
