UNIFIL welcomes the conviction of those accused of killing an Irish peacekeeper, Sean Rooney

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) welcomed the conclusion of the trial procedures and the Lebanese government’s commitment to bring the perpetrators to justice. The mission stated that, since the attack, it has provided its full support to the Lebanese and Irish authorities in their judicial procedures.

And renewed, the mission extended its deepest condolences to the family of the soldier Rooney, his friends, colleagues, and the government of Ireland.
