Death is starvation threatening thousands in Gaza

The World Health Organization has warned that the Gaza Strip is witnessing the worst stages of starvation according to the integrated classification of food security stages, stressing that death is hunger threatening thousands.

The organization said in a statement today, “Thursday” that Gaza residents suffer from a severe food shortage, while some remain for days without food while others die due to extreme weakness or the failure of members, especially children with severe malnutrition, who face the risk of death if they do not receive treatment urgently.

The statement pointed out that the health system in Gaza is unable to perform its duties, in light of a severe shortage of medical supplies and fuel, which increases the suffering of the population and health workers themselves.

The organization pointed out that the recovery of malnutrition requires months of specialized medical care and therapeutic nutrition, stressing that some of the consequences may last for life, such as delayed growth and permanent health problems.

The organization called for immediate and broad allowing humanitarian aid, from food and medicine, through all possible ways.

Israel demanded to facilitate the arrival of aid and ensure safe and fast traffic to it, to save lives and stop the suffering of civilians, calling at the same time to a ceasefire.
