UAE .. exceptional diplomatic efforts to lift the siege on the Gaza Strip

Since the outbreak of the crisis in the Gaza Strip in October 2023, the UAE has led intensive diplomatic efforts in cooperation with its regional and international partners to prevent the escalation of violence and the expansion of its circle, with a constant emphasis on the necessity of the arrival of humanitarian, relief and medical aid to the brotherly Palestinian people in the sector urgently, intense, safe and without any obstacles.

The UAE’s positions towards what is happening in the Gaza Strip embodies its policy and sincere efforts in the search for a political solution that guarantees the reversing the brotherly Palestinian people more tragedies and human suffering, which is consistent with Arab and international positions.

The efforts to stop the violence and escalation in the Gaza Strip have acquired an important aspect of contacts and meetings made by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State “may God protect him”, with the leaders of Arab and foreign countries, during the last period, which focused on mobilizing international efforts to ensure respect for international humanitarian law and provide protection for civilians and spare them the worsening suffering as a result of worrying field developments.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, participated in the exceptional meeting held by the leaders of the “BRICS” group in November 2023 regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip through visual communication technology, as His Highness renewed the UAE’s invitation to protect civilians in the Gaza Strip and secure the arrival of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip safely, urgently and sustainable without obstacles and immediate ceasefire.

Emirati diplomatic efforts have achieved many successes in reaching humanitarian guidance and agreements that allow the entry of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, and among the most prominent examples of these successes, the agreement to start the entry of urgent humanitarian aid from the UAE, aimed at meeting the food needs of about 15 thousand civilians in the Gaza Strip as a first stage, which came after the contact of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, with His Excellency Gideon Saar, The Foreign Minister of the State of Israel, on July 21.

The UAE has a long record of political and diplomatic efforts in supporting the Palestinian brothers since the outbreak of the crisis in the Gaza Strip, and it can be stopped at many prominent stations such as Security Council Resolution 2712 of November 15, 2023, which calls for a series of periods of stopping the fighting that extends for several days in the Gaza Strip, sufficient to communicate humanitarian aid completely, urgently and safe and without obstacles, as the UAE worked as the Arab member in the council, closely with the mission Permanent for “Malta” to the United Nations, based on drafting this decision and providing the necessary support for its issuance.

The United Nations Security Council approved in December 2023 Resolution No. 2720, which was submitted by the UAE and calls for fundamental and concrete steps to increase the flow of humanitarian aid strongly needed by the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and to protect United Nations employees and humanitarian workers on the ground.

The UAE participated in the Arab ministerial meeting held in March 2024 in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, which emphasized the priority of achieving a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire, increasing the enforcement of humanitarian aid, opening all crossings between Israel and the sector, and the need to provide full support to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA).

In May 2024, the UAE welcomed the decision of the International Court of Justice to impose additional temporary measures on Israel demanding an immediate cessation of its military operations in Rafah Governorate, and the exacerbation of the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

The UAE participated in the meeting of the European Union’s Foreign Affairs Council, which was held on May 29, 2024 in Brussels, which called for a ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The UAE has reaffirmed the continuation of humanitarian and relief support for the Palestinian brothers, and the priority of the immediate and permanent endowment for fire in the Gaza Strip, during its participation in the Cairo Ministerial Conference to enhance the humanitarian response in Gaza, which was held in December 2024 in Cairo, and the extraordinary ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in March 2025 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The UAE stressed the necessity of concerted international efforts to stop the war in Gaza, and pave the way for a sustainable solution to the Palestinian -Israeli conflict on the basis of a two -state solution, during its participation in the high -level international conference of the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two -state solution that was recently held at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.
