83 %of taxis and lympozine in Dubai «electric and hybrid»

Dubai Roads and Communications Authority revealed that approximately 3300 taxis and limousine vehicles into electrical vehicles, until the end of last year 2024, by 12% of the total fleet, in the context of implementing a public transportation axes with net zero emissions in Dubai by 2050, noting that hybrid vehicles constitute 71% of the total fleet now, to become 83% of taxi vehicles And lympozine in Dubai is “electric and hybrid”, while the authority and the Inoc Group signed an experimental agreement to study the use of green hydrogen to operate public buses.
Mona Al -Osaimi, Executive Director of the Strategy and Institutional Governance Sector in the Roads and Transport Authority, Mona Al -Osaimi, said that the authority is making unremitting efforts within its strategic plans, to support the vision of the rational leadership in enhancing Dubai’s world status in various fields, the most important of which is sustainability, in a way that coincides with the government vision of the UAE: “We Emirates 2031” and government trends of the emirate and the Dubai Urban Plan 2040 that includes main files supporting Dubai has made an integrated model for the sustainable city.
She added to «Emirates Today» that the sustainability is a major goal within the authority’s strategy, pointing out that in this framework, the Roads and Transport Authority initiated an integrated road map for the sustainability of public transport in the Emirate of Dubai 2030, as it includes future trends for sustainable movement in the Emirate of Dubai for the year 2030, to support the leadership role of the Emirate of Dubai in the field of sustainable development globally in line with the global goals of sustainable development.
She stated that in 2023 the authority launched a “public transportation with net communications in Dubai by 2050” as the first party in the Middle East region, and in line with the global, national and local trends of the UAE, related to the environment and its protection, such as the Paris Climate Agreement, the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, and national trends such as: the National Climate Need Initiative, and the UAE’s agenda for development Green 2030, National Climate Change Plan 2050, and Emirates Energy Strategy 2050.
She added: «The strategy is in line with the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 aimed at enhancing the emirate’s position, one of the largest urban economies in the world, as it aims to achieve many achievements during the years of their application, including converting all taxis, chinzine and public buses into non -emissions, and creating high -efficiency buildings (close to scratch), and providing energy from clean sources and (zero) waste. Al -Osaimi pointed out that the strategy includes converting 10% of public transport buses into electrical and hydrogen by 2030, to complete the percentage and reach 100% by 2050, and convert taxis and lympozine in the emirate into electric and hydrogen compounds by 30% by 2030 to 100% by 2040.
She pointed out that within the framework of implementing a public transportation strategy axes with net zero emissions in Dubai by 2050, approximately 3300 taxis and limousine vehicles were transferred to electric vehicles until the end of last year 2024 by 12% of the total fleet, knowing that the authority has previously developed in 2016 a plan to convert taxis and omezin in Dubai into hybrid vehicles that currently constitute its percentage 71% of the total fleet, which means that the percentage of vehicles operating in fuel only does not exceed 17% of the total fleet.
Al -Osaimi added that the Roads and Communications Authority has submitted a request to purchase 40 electric buses, and it is planned that the buses will enter the service in 2026, and the appropriate infrastructure is being prepared for it, and within the same framework, the Authority and the Inoc Group signed an experimental agreement to study the use of green hydrogen in operating public buses, where the authority is currently conducting a hydrogen bus experiment.
