The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia joins the world in celebrating The occasion, to increase awareness of the importance of fresh water, and to promote sustainable management of its natural water resources, and its theme this year focuses on the role of water and sanitation in achieving gender equality, in activities that include spreading awareness, rationalizing consumption, and protecting water sources; In an effort to achieve the sixth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals to provide safe water and sanitation for all by 2030.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture explained that the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to address and support all regional and international issues related to water; It embodies its leadership position in addressing current and future water challenges, and strengthens its pivotal role in promoting sustainable water management practices and preserving its sources, by adopting many ambitious initiatives, including the announcement by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect him – of the establishment of a global water organization based in Riyadh, with the aim of uniting international efforts to confront water issues and challenges around the world. Next year, the Kingdom will host the eleventh session of the World Water Forum, which is considered the largest international gathering. To discuss water issues.

At the beginning of last year, the Ministry launched an initiative "Blue"; To activate women’s awareness-raising role in preserving water sources, through awareness-raising activities and lectures, volunteer opportunities, and competitions for university and school students, in addition to training and qualification workshops in the water sector. In its first phase, the initiative targets about 5 million beneficiaries in 20 universities and 450 schools, noting that about 410 young men and women participated in the initiative’s programs, along with 610 male and female volunteers, who spent more than 47,000 hours. Voluntary.

It is noteworthy that the Kingdom is the largest producer of desalinated water in the world, which increases its commitment to the necessity of exchanging experiences and knowledge, and enhancing paths of joint cooperation, by exporting its expertise in water management and the sustainability of its sources, by adopting the latest innovations and advanced technologies to provide water and confront its scarcity.
