The Korean Central Bank: Register the highest surplus of the current account during June

Seoul on August 7/ WAM/ The Republic of Korea recorded the largest surplus in the current account ever during the month of June thanks to the rise in exports, reaching 14.27 billion dollars, an increase of 10.14 billion dollars last May, according to what the Central Bank of Korea announced today, Thursday.

This represents the highest monthly surplus ever and a surplus for the twenty -sixth month in a row since May 2023.

During the first half of this year, the total surplus in the current account amounted to 49.37 billion dollars, compared to 40.16 billion dollars recorded during the same period last year.

The commodity account achieved a surplus of $ 13.16 billion in June, as Korea’s exports increased by 2.3% on an annual basis to 60.37 billion dollars, while imports increased by 0.7% on an annual basis to 47.21 billion dollars, but the services account recorded a deficit of $ 2.53 billion in June due to the increasing demand to travel abroad.

The basic income account, which tracks the wages of foreign workers, profit distribution payments from abroad and interest revenues, also recorded a $ 4.16 billion in June, according to bank data.
