"Sharjah Room" Looking to enhance cooperation with the Indian Business Council

Sharjah on August 14/ WAM/ The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation with the Indian Business and Professions Council in the emirate.

This came during a working meeting organized by the Chamber at the Sharjah Club of Old Cars, on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of India, in the presence of His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber, His Excellency Satish Kumar Sevan, Consul General of India in Dubai, and His Excellency Mohamed Ahmed Amin Al -Awadi, Director General of the Chamber, along with a number of Chamber officials and representatives of the Indian Business and Professions Council in Sharjah.

His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais stressed that during the meeting, economic relations between the UAE and India are witnessing a continuous development, supported by the comprehensive economic partnership agreement, which contributed to raising the volume of non -oil trade between the two countries to more than 240 billion dirhams by the end of 2024, achieving a growth of 20.5%.

He explained that the Sharjah Chamber is working to enhance these relations by supporting the Indian business community and providing a flexible and stimulating investment environment, noting that the number of Indian companies registered with the Chamber exceeded 20 thousand companies, including about 2000 new companies registered during the year 2024, while the value of exports and re -exports of the Chamber to the Indian market amounted to about 576 million dirhams during the same period.

For his part, His Excellency Satish Kumar Sevan expressed his appreciation for organizing this meeting, praising the role of the Sharjah Chamber in supporting the Indian community and enhancing joint economic cooperation, especially in light of the advanced investment environment provided by the emirate.

He stressed that the Consulate General of India seeks to develop the mechanisms of communication and cooperation with various Emirati institutions, in a way that contributes to promoting commercial and investment partnerships, pointing to the importance of Sharjah as an attractive destination for Indian investments in many vital sectors.

In turn, Lalu Samuel, Chairman of the Indian Business and Professions Council in Sharjah, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Sharjah Chamber for its continuous cooperation with the Council, stressing his keenness to continue joint coordination to support business community through organizing events, missions, and exhibitions, especially in the sectors of technology, agriculture, and health care.

He pointed out that the council seeks to expand its network of relations with the various economic sectors in the emirate, in order to enhance the contribution of Indian companies in supporting economic growth and expanding the horizons of bilateral cooperation.

The meeting included a review of the most prominent competitive advantages provided by the Emirate of Sharjah to foreign companies, especially in the fields of energy, manufacturing industries, and logistical services, as well as highlighting the role of the Indian Business Council and Professions in facilitating communication between the business community in the Emirates and India, and supporting the regional and global expansion of Indian companies operating in the emirate.
