The UAE summons the Chargé d’Affairs at the Iraqi Embassy and hands him a note of protest against terrorist attacks launched from his country’s territory.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Omar Abdul Majeed Hamid Al-Obaidi, Charge d’Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to the UAE, and handed him a strongly worded memorandum of protest, and informed him of the condemnation and denunciation of the United Arab Emirates in the strongest terms and its absolute rejection of the continuation of the sinful terrorist attacks emanating from Iraqi territory, carried out by factions, militias and terrorist armed groups loyal to the Islamic Republic of Iran, despite the announcement of a ceasefire, as these brutal attacks targeted A number of vital installations in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in flagrant violation of their sovereignty and airspace and a clear violation of the provisions of international law, international humanitarian law, and the Charter of the United Nations.
The protest note, which was delivered by Mr. Ahmed Jumaa Al-Marashdeh, Director of the Arab Affairs Department, stressed that the continuation of these brutal attacks launched by the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the terrorist attacks by its agents, on the Gulf states and the countries of the region threaten the stability of the region, and undermine international efforts in this regard and the efforts made to enhance security and stability in the region. These attacks also place the existing relations with the Republic of Iraq before very sensitive challenges, which reflects negatively on the existing cooperation and fraternal relations between Iraq and the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council. It also stressed the need for the government of the Republic of Iraq to commit to stopping and preventing all hostile acts emanating from its territory and directed towards the Gulf states and the countries of the region, urgently and unconditionally, and the need to deal with and prevent these threats and attacks urgently, immediately and responsibly, in accordance with relevant international and regional laws and conventions.
The protest note included a reminder of UN Security Council Resolution No. 2817 (2026), which 136 countries co-sponsored, specifically calling for an immediate and unconditional cessation of any provocation or threat to neighboring countries, including the use of agents.
In this context, she stressed the importance of Iraq playing its role in establishing security and stability in the region, in a way that preserves its sovereignty and strengthens its position as an active and responsible partner in its regional environment.
