Syria – Humanitarian Coordinator visits As -Suwayda and warns of difficult conditions there

This came in a statement issued by Abdel -Mawla after a visit to As -Suwayda on August 20, where he expressed his appreciation to the Syrian government for its support and facilitation of the mission, indicating that this cooperation enabled the United Nations delegation to assess the humanitarian situation on the ground and communicate directly with the affected societies, local officials and civil society organizations.
Abdel -Mawla said: “The humanitarian conditions in the endosperm and the sites of displacement in Daraa and the countryside of Damascus..

Decreen and severe pressure
The statement of the Humanitarian Affairs Coordinator and the United Nations Coordinator in Syria reminded that more than 190,000 people were displaced, most of them inside the As -Suwayda Governorate, and many have resorted to schools, which raises urgent concerns with the approach of the school year.
The statement called for finding generous and safe solutions to the displaced families to ensure that children get education without interruption.
He also pointed out that health services are under severe pressure, as hospitals and clinics face a severe decrease in basic drugs, including insulin, dialysis supplies, and cancer treatments.
At the same time, local markets suffer from a severe food shortage, and a sharp rise in basic commodity prices.
Life aids
In coordination with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, the United Nations and its humanitarian partners have sent 12 aid convoys so far, providing a wide range of life -saving aid. Currently, a form of humanitarian aid is more than 300,000 people per month.
In his statement, humanitarian coordinator warned that despite these efforts, the response is still limited due to limited financing, calling on donors to solidarity with the people of As -Suwayda and all parts of Syria by increasing support urgently to meet the most urgent needs.
