After 30 years … a time capsule from Princess Diana reveals secrets and memories

The legacy of Princess Diana was not only in her famous jewelry or dresses, but also extended to valuable memories of her hideout inside a time capsule that was recently discovered by chance at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.

The 1991 capsule, was placed when Princess Diana was president of the hospital, and contained a group of holdings that reflect the features of life in the 1990s. Among its contents are a three -dimensional image of a snowflaft, a solar powered calculator, British currencies, QIS seeds, European passport, a jeep, a paper recycled paper, a copy of the singer Kylie Minoug album “The Rhythm of Love”, as well as a picture of Princess Diana and a modern version of the Times and handwriting messages.

Although the late princess was the supervisor of the project, the choice of contents was made by two children, Silvia Volkswagen and David Watson, after winning a competition launched by the famous British Children’s program “Blue Peter”.

The capsule was supposed to remain closed for centuries, but the recent construction work in the hospital led to the demolition of the wall in which it was placed, which necessitated its opening at this time. Although the fund is exposed to some moisture, most of the holdings have been healthy and the messages are currently being restored to preserve for future generations.

It is noteworthy that this is not the first capsule associated with the history of the hospital, as Alexandra, Princess Wales in 1872, has previously put a time capsule that includes a copy of the Times and a picture of Queen Victoria, but it was not discovered until today. With the ongoing renovations, the hospital plans to place a new capsule added to this unique time legacy.
