Austria’s exports to the United States declined as a result of customs duties

Vienna on September 7/ WAM/ A modern economic report in Austria showed a decrease in total exports by 3.1% in the first half of this year, to reach 94.17 billion euros, compared to the same period last year.

On the other hand, imports increased by 2.9% to 97.46 billion euros, which resulted in a trade deficit of 3.29 billion euros, after a surplus of 2.43 billion euros in the first half of 2024, according to the data of the Austrian Statistics Authority.

The report pointed to the decrease in Austrian exports to the European Union countries by 1.2%, reaching 64.39 billion euros, while Austria’s imports from the European Union increased by 0.3% to reach 63.92 billion euros.

The Austrian exports to the United States also witnessed a decline of more than 14% in the first half of this year, influenced by the policy of restrictions on the United States, especially in the machine and vehicles sector, which decreased by 17.5%.

Despite the decrease in exports, the foreign trade movement with non -European countries (third countries) recorded an increase in the volume of imports by 8.1%, to reach 33.55 billion euros, while exports fell by 6.9% to 29.78 billion euros.
