26 billion dirhams of hotel establishments revenue in the Emirates, the first half of 2025 and 6.3% growth

Abu Dhabi, September 9 / WAM / His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al -Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, Chairman of the Emirates Tourism Council, announced the increase in the revenues of hotel establishments in the country to more than 26 billion dirhams during the first half of the current year and with a growth rate of 6.3% compared to the same period last year, and the occupancy rate in the hotel sector reached 80.5% during the first 6 months of this year, which reflects a continuation of the growth momentum of this vital sector, and integration Efforts between the governmental and private sectors, and supports the achievement of the target of the national strategy for tourism 2031, which aims to raise the contribution of the tourism sector to the national economy to 450 billion dirhams by the next decade.

His Excellency stressed during the third meeting of the year 2025 of the Council, which was held headed by His Excellency, and in the presence of the heads and directors of all local tourism bodies in the country, that Emirati tourism continues its exceptional performance in light of the directives of the wise leadership, and its interest in developing this vital sector as one of the strategic sectors to enhance the state’s non -oil GDP, and the shift towards the new economic model.

His Excellency said, “We continue our efforts in the Emirates Tourism Council to enhance the future of sustainable tourism development in the country, through the establishment of effective partnerships between the government and private sectors, and the launch of innovative tourism initiatives and projects that are not limited to enhancing tourism growth only, but also extending to create exceptional tourism experiences, provide distinguished opportunities for Emirati cadres, and enhance our tourism presence on the global scene.”

The meeting reviewed a set of new and future tourism initiatives and projects, which would contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of the Emirati tourism sector during the next stage, and the mechanisms of implementing these initiatives and the importance of integration between tourism authorities in the country and the private sector were discussed to ensure the achievement of all the results and targets concerned with them, and in the same context and the recommendations issued by the previous meeting were followed up, and reviewing what has been accomplished from them so far.

The meeting touched on the preparations of the UAE to host the “Emirates and Africa Tourism Investment Summit” on October 27, as part of the “World Summit for the Future of Hospitality”, with the participation of tourism ministers and senior officials from 53 African countries, where this summit represents a prominent platform to enhance strategic partnerships and discuss joint investment opportunities in the areas of tourism infrastructure and sustainable hospitality and the development of specialized tourism products, as this event reflects The UAE’s position as a reliable partner in tourism investment, and confirms its role as a bridge to communicate between African and global markets.

The Council reviewed the plans and tourism programs presented by the local tourism bodies in the various emirates of the country during the meeting, as well as presentations on the results it achieved during the first nine months of this year, in addition to its new development plans for the year 2026, including initiatives aimed at enhancing the UAE’s position as a leading tourist destination at the regional and global levels.
