"Abu Dhabit’s culture and tourism leads global efforts to protect heritage

Abu Dhabi, September 15 / WAM / The Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi hosts “expert definition units to form a joint strategic knowledge”, which is a series of seminars and workshops specialized in the areas of cultural heritage, in an effort to enhance an integrated and strategic approach to protecting and promoting cultural and natural heritage that the various sectors share.
This program confirms the commitment of the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi to consolidate cultural sustainability and protect heritage assets to ensure future generations reach cultural resources.
The chain of seminars is based on the First International Forum for Cultural Heritage and Knowledge Development, organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi May 2025 in cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), as well as other national and international partners, including the Ministry of Culture.
His Excellency Muhammad Khalifa Al -Mubarak, head of the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi, said: We believe that protecting our heritage is not the responsibility of one party or individual, but rather a common task that requires cooperation, exchange of knowledge, and teamwork; Based on the results of the first international forum for cultural heritage and knowledge development, we confirm the continuation of our efforts to preserve our past by improving the skills of the workforce in the culture sector, and through these seminars and workshops, we provide workers in various sectors related to modern tools and future forward -looking visions to protect our identity, our locations, our traditions, and also through our investment in our human resources and active partnerships, Nison Our sites are to tell our stories and share our traditions and thus ensure that the cultural and natural heritage remains a source of identity and opportunities, for Abu Dhabi, the region and the whole world.
In compliance with the framework of UNESCO’s work for education and arts (Abu Dhabi 2024), the Mondiacolt Conference (2022), and the Future Charter (2024), this program emphasizes the vital role of culture and education as two associates to advance knowledge and build flexible societies, and in addition to that the launch of this initiative is based on believing that everyone has the right to benefit from cultural heritage and contribute to Enrich it.
Based on the International Covenant on the United Nations Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (1966), the program aims to activate the places of live heritage, where access to culture is a key to the practice of cultural rights and a catalyst for comprehensive and sustainable social, economic and environmental development.
The program emphasizes that in the midst of the growing challenges globally, the cultural heritage remains in its material, irregular and natural parts, essential for achieving social cohesion, providing economic opportunities, and ensuring historical continuity through its meanings, identities and fundamental values.
The program consists of four introductory units: the protection of the sites of cultural and natural heritage, the preservation of the intangible cultural heritage, the protection of the underwear cultural heritage, and the protection and promotion of the diversity of forms of cultural expression (cultural industries).
Each introductory unit will continue for four consecutive days, including an intensive seminar for two days, focusing on exchanging knowledge and building awareness, and over two days, strategic workshops are held with experts in cultural heritage and field visits designed to enhance cooperation between different sectors, and contribute to finding common solutions between professionals working in the areas of culture, education, media, the urban environment, enforcement of law, Tourism, the environment, and other related areas.
The program was designed for professionals from the UAE and the countries of the Cooperation Council, working in government agencies and related institutions working in the field of culture, and it includes qualified participants, to name a few, the police and customs, civil defense, environmental, sustainability and municipalities, education and higher education institutions, media and communication offices, representatives of the local community and non -governmental organizations, institutions and cultural bodies.
It is also welcomed to apply to professionals from various disciplines, including architects, city planners, project managers, archaeologists, teachers, media professionals, museum employees, and others.
With the end of the participants from the aforementioned activities, members of the Network of Cultural Heritage Experts will become the representation of their institutions and organizations in the relevant events in the future, so the approval of their work agencies and their superiors is a key to participation, and the participants are expected to fully adhere to the program of each unit extending for four days.
