The Emirates chairs a session "Digital trade" At the Parliamentary Conference of the World Trade Organization in Geneva

Geneva, September 18 / WAM / The UAE chaired a parliamentary session entitled “Parliamentarians and promoting pluralism through digital trade”, held today in Geneva, as part of the work of the Parliamentary Conference of the World Trade Organization organized by the European Parliament and the International Parliamentary Union, with the participation of a number of parliamentarians, decision -makers and international experts.

His Excellency Dr. Marwan Obaid Al -Muhairi, member of the Parliamentary Division of the Federal National Council in the International Parliamentary Union, the representative of the Federation, and a member of the Guidance Committee of the Parliamentary Conference of the World Trade Organization, during his presidency of the session is the importance of the parliamentary role in supporting international efforts aimed at formulating binding and effective rules for digital trade, stressing the need to continue the reform of the World Trade Organization in line with the requirements of member states, and in a way that ensures the continuity of commercial pluralism As an essential pillar of global economic stability and growth.

His Excellency pointed out that parliaments are responsible for following up on legislative initiatives that contribute to removing obstacles to digital trade across the borders, and promoting digital confidence, which reflects positively on empowering entrepreneurs and consumers and supports the prosperity of the digital economy, and global efforts aimed at developing the digital trade system and devoting the principle of pluralism as a strategic option that guarantees stability and balance in the commercial system International.
