The Farmers Forum in Sharjah discusses the mechanisms of marketing agricultural products and recommends the establishment of a center to collect them

The farmers forum, which was organized by the Department of Agriculture and Livestock in Sharjah today, discussed the mechanisms for developing agricultural products and marketing them with a number of specialized local companies and sales outlets to support sustainable agricultural transformation and exchange of experiences and build an agricultural system that achieves a balance between production and preserving resources and the environment in the framework of its efforts to support sustainable productive farms in line with the vision of Sharjah in creating a competitive environment that provides Safe and sustainable solutions that support farm owners to contribute to the national food security strategy according to best practices and the use of modern technologies in food production.
Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabah Al -Tunaiji, head of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock in Sharjah, said in statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the forum recommended the importance of a center that works to collect, sort and examine agricultural products
Packaging and connecting them to specialized sales outlets.
He added: “We will work to establish this position, which requires the agreement of all parties from farmers, suppliers and sales outlets to formulate a mechanism for work and then raise the idea to the relevant authorities in the Sharjah government to adopt and apply it on the ground during the next agricultural season.”
He pointed to the success of the experience of agricultural gangs that were applied in the city of Al Dhaid during this summer, which created solutions to the high cost of electricity and water by providing a technology that works on solar energy and cooling devices, all of which are manufactured in the country with a patent that was able to reduce temperatures to more than 10 degrees Celsius.
Khalifa Musabah Al -Tunaiji said that the forum aims to monitor the challenges facing farmers in order to reach local markets and enable them to obtain available marketing opportunities in addition to introducing farmers to the required specifications and quality standards according to best practices.
He added that the Department of Agriculture and Livestock focuses on the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to enable agricultural projects to enhance sustainable development and emphasize the importance of investment in the agricultural and livestock sectors, as they constitute a basic pillar in the Sharjah economy in particular and the Emirates in general and major shareholders in promoting sustainable food security and providing great job opportunities.
The forum witnessed effective discussions through which farmers presented the most important limits they face in this aspect and how to convert them into successful opportunities in addition to focusing on the transformation from traditional farms to more sustainable model production farms.
The forum was attended by Salem Abdullah Al -Kaabi, Director of the Department, a number of directors of departments, as well as representatives of specialized local agricultural products marketing companies and a number of productive farms in the Emirate of Sharjah.
