Saeed Al Tayer: Dubai is committed to innovation and sustainability in using self -driving technology

Dubai, September 24 / WAM / His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al -Tayer, Managing Director, CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, confirmed that the organization of the Dubai International Self -Driving Conference 2025 reflects the insightful vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God bless him, and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, and Chairman of the Executive Council in Dubai, to commit Dubai By innovation, sustainability and forward -looking thinking, by expanding the use of self -driving technology, at all levels and levels.

This came in a major speech delivered by His Excellency during the activities of the fourth session of the Dubai World Self -Driving Conference, which is organized by the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai under the slogan “Re -Definition of Transport: The Path towards Self -Mobility”, where the authority participates as a strategic partner in the conference activities.

He said, “Dubai adopted an ambitious mission of making 25% of all trips in the emirate smart and self -driving by 2030, and this is not just a goal, but rather a noble task that reflects Dubai’s determination to lead the fourth industrial revolution and build a smart, sustainable, efficient, and integrated city.”

He added that the development of mobility is not only limited to electric or self -driving cars, but also includes the integration of clean energy, digital innovation and artificial intelligence in every aspect of urban life, and that the authority’s task in developing the infrastructure and technologies needed to make smart movement not only possible, but in practice and influencing as well.

He explained that by the middle of this year, the authority provided more than 42 thousand megawatts an hour of electricity to charge electric vehicles, and the number of electric vehicles in the emirate exceeded more than 41 thousand vehicles, and Dubai witnessed a noticeable increase in the use of electric vehicles since 2015 and the number of registered in the “green charger” initiative for electric vehicles increased from 14 conveyors in 2015 to more than 19 thousand customers by the end of July 2025.

He stated that the authority plays a pivotal role in the transformation of Dubai towards a sustainable smart city by reshaping the future of energy and movement, noting that the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Complex, which is the largest solar energy complex in one location in the world, is a key pillar in implementing the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, and the carbon neutrality strategy 2050 for the Emirate of Dubai, which aims to meet 100% of Dubai energy needs are clean sources by 2050.

His Excellency continued, “The” Shams Dubai “initiative has enabled more than 8,600 buildings across the emirate to produce electricity by relying on solar photovoltaic energy, which added more than 740 megawatts to the authority’s network, and at the same time, we invest through our smart network strategy about 7 billion dirhams, to employ artificial intelligence and automation in promoting reliability and efficiency of electricity and water services.”
