Negotiations on the plan to end the Gaza war in its final stages

US President Donald Trump said, in an interview with the “Axios” website yesterday, that negotiations on his plan to end the war in Gaza “in its final stages”, expressing his belief that reaching an agreement may open the way for a broader peace in the Middle East.
“Everyone gathered to conclude the agreement, but we still have to do it,” Trump added, noting that the Arab countries were “great in cooperating with this file,” and that the Palestinian Hamas movement is participating in the process by means of these countries.
He continued, “The Arab world wants peace, Israel wants peace and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants peace.”
Trump added that he received a “very good response” from Israel and Arab leaders on the proposal of the peace plan in Gaza, and that he hoped to complete it during his meeting with Netanyahu today.
Trump explained that the goal of his plan goes beyond the stopping of the war in Gaza to include the resumption of broader efforts to achieve peace in the region, saying: “If we accomplish this, it will be a great day for Israel and the Middle East.”
«Axios» quoted a source familiar with the negotiations as saying that the White House envoy Steve Witkeov and Trump’s son -in -law, Jared Kushner, will meet in New York with Netanyahu to try to bridge the existing gaps between the United States and Israel over the plan, with Trump to meet the Israeli Prime Minister in Washington today.
“Axius” stated that the dispute between the United States and Israel is currently focused on the item of Hamas’s disarmament, which Israel wants to be more bound, and the role of the Palestinian Authority in Gaza, which Netanyahu considers a “red line” for him.
The outline of the plan consisting of 21 points includes a permanent ceasefire, the release of all hostages within 48 hours of the armistice, a gradual withdrawal of the Israeli forces from Gaza, the release of about 250 Palestinian detainees from those convicted of life imprisonment, and about two thousand detainees from Gaza since October 7, 2023.
Trump’s plan includes a post -war ruling mechanism without “Hamas” that includes an international and Arab council with a representative of the Palestinian Authority and the government of technocrats of independent figures in Gaza.
The plan also proposes the establishment of a security force that includes Palestinians and soldiers from Arab and Islamic countries, and a financing from these countries to rebuild the sector, as well as an operation to disarm “Hamas” and grant an amnesty to its members who abandon violence, and an Israeli commitment to not include lands in the West Bank or Gaza and not to attack Qatar in the future, along with the “credible” path towards establishing a Palestinian state after major reforms in the Palestinian Authority.
For its part, Hamas said earlier that it had not received any new proposals from the brokers, stressing that the talks are suspended since the assassination attempt that targeted its leaders in the Qatari capital, Doha, earlier this month.
