Complete the Gulf Railways link project by December 2030

The Gulf Railways Authority confirmed that the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf continue their efforts to complete the Gulf railway project according to the specified timetable and that the Ministerial Council approved the month of 2030 a final date to complete the project.

Eng. Mohammed bin Fahd Al -Shabrami, Director General of the Gulf Railways Authority, said in statements to the Emirates News Agency “WAM” on the sidelines of the activities of the second edition of the Global Exhibition and Conference on Railways, Transport and Infrastructure “Global Rail 2025”, whose activities began today in Abu Dhabi that the railway linking project is one of the strategic projects that will link the six countries of the Cooperation Council via a network that extends to about 2117 km.

He explained that the GCC states are currently working in an integrated manner to complete the stages of the linking, as the Gulf project integrates with national projects within each country to form a pivotal part of the regional transport system in a way that enhances the interdependence between the GCC countries and the wider regional environment.

He pointed out that the project will be linked to ports and logistical centers in the countries of cooperation, which will reflect positively on the economic aspects by strengthening the movement of goods and increasing the smooth flow of individuals between member states.

He added that passenger transport trains will work at a speed of more than 200 km per hour, while the speed of the shipping trains will range between 80 and 120 km per hour, which contributes to raising the efficiency of the transportation system and enhances the sustainable development process in the region.
